Cabbage and burger cassarole

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium head green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or more if you like it extra cheesy)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Brown the beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess grease.
  • Add onion and garlic to the beef and cook until softened and fragrant.
  • Stir in cabbage, tomatoes, broth, and seasonings. Mix well.
  • Transfer mixture into a greased 9×13 baking dish.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove foil, sprinkle with cheese, and return to oven for 10–15 minutes until melted and bubbly.
  • Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
